You Think You Know Somebody

"You Think You Know Somebody" is episode 5 of season 1 of the television show Veronica Mars.

Plot

Troy's dad's car is stolen and Veronica has only a limited amount of time to find it before Troy is shipped off to a Catholic school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There's only a few problems. Namely, it also has a piñata full of steroids in it. Veronica also deals with her father dating Rebecca Jameson, the school counselor at Neptune High.

Arc significance

• Troy is revealed as a drug dealer and leaves town to meet his girlfriend, who is also in on the drug scheme. However, Veronica figures everything out before he realizes it, and she flushes his drug stash down the toilet.
• Veronica finds a safe deposit box key which leads her to her mother's belongings. When she opens the safe deposit box, she finds pictures of herself in gun-sights.
• Veronica's mother calls her at the end of the episode and lets her know that she is ok and that 'everything will make sense when the time is right'. The call goes directly to Veronica's voicemail.

Trivia

• Aaron Ashmore (Troy) and Sam Huntington (Luke) have both played the character Jimmy Olsen from the Superman series. Huntington was in Superman Returns, and Ashmore in Smallville.
• When the boys find out that their car is gone, Logan mentions the movie Brigadoon, saying that "If you come back in a hundred years, it'll be right back in this spot".
